Declaring the War on Cellulite

The nasty orange peel looking skin on our thighs and butt is a problem for us all, well most of us 🙂 And when you’re thinking of hurrying to the spa, wait a second, there are home remedies for it as well, much cheaper than a spa visit. I prefer to spend my money differently so I’m fighting this nasty cellulite at home 😉

First I started detoxing my body with homemade lemon – cucumber – ginger – pepperment water. Combine 2 liters of water, about 12 mint leaves, half a lemon, thinly sliced, half a sliced cucumber and a tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. Let sit overnight. It tastes awesome by the way.

The second thing that I have done is a coffee wrap once per week plus I use the same mixture for my scrub in the morning when I take a shower. While in the shower apply mixture to skin by massaging in a circular motion. I have to warn you, both are very messy but I will try anything to win this war 🙂

coffee scrub

1/4 cup Coffee Grounds, 2 tbsp. Coconut Oil, 3 tsp. Sea Salt. Mix everything together. This is good for a week. You need a cling/plastic wrap for the coffee wrap. Pick a spot where you can make a mess and/or easy to clean up and apply the mixture to your legs/tummy and just tightly wrap it with plastic wrap for 15-20 minutes. You could start seeing the results within two weeks.

I also take a salt water bath once or twice a week. I do a small yoga session in the morning. I’m working on balancing my hormones as well but that is a tough job for me. My hormones are always all over the place. It seems many sources agree that hormones play a large part in cellulite formation and that working toward hormone balance can help reduce cellulite.

I have been eating healthy for years now except for the weekends, these 2 days are my cheat days and it has worked out so far! I love bananas, I eat at least 2 per day, my snacks are usually nuts, almonds or fruits/vegetables. The best thing with getting older is that you get less obsessed about your weight and enjoy life more. For me anyways 🙂

And the best news of all I can take out my bicycle soon! I can’t wait, I’m so excited to bike to work.
