I really needed a happy smoothie this morning. I deserved it. I´m still waiting for my Food Intolerance Test results and I can´t wait to receive them. I called to the doctors office and asked if they already received it so I will know what I can eat and what I can´t and the receptionist said “Doctor will contact you if your blood work is not normal”. I went into frustration mode because it sounded like she had no idea what this test is all about.
It´s a blood test. You are tested for more than 200 different foods. Test is web-based personalized report that your healthcare provider can get access to after the test is done. What my doctor forgot to do was to release the results to me. It is a very new test and a lot of people don´t know about it yet and doctors don´t know how to go about it. So I understand that.
This test will help my health and gives me an idea what foods (200 different) I can eat and what not. It cost me 325 dollars and you can understand my frustration when the receptionist went all “You are a dumb patient” mode. Very unprofessional, I could hear it in her voice.
So I put on some classical music and started mixing fruits and other ingredients together with my new NINJA Bullet. What a fantastic find, I´m so happy with it!
Classical music calms me down, and it has been couple intense days and I have been feeling a little sad and frustrated.
Anyways, smoothie….
I started off with powders and oils. One pill full of MACA powder. Why maca? Because if you find yourself overcome with anxiety, stress, depression or mood swings, maca may help alleviate these symptoms. I think it´s a good reason!
Next, coconut oil. Why? Because coconut oil appears to be effective in reducing abdominal fat and the bikini season is on now 😉 And that will make me happier 😉
Then I added a little bit of cinnamon and vanilla extract! That I add to my smoothie every time anyways, that wasn´t anything new. Well cinnamon is good for so many things, you can read it from HERE. And vanilla extract, it´s not only for baking, it´s a powerful anti-inflammatory and vanilla can improve your mental performance.
I also added a little bit of pine nuts. Everybody was talking about these fab nuts, so I had to buy some and they are absolutely awesome. I´m always carrying some in my purse!
Lets move on – bananas, cherries and blueberries. For me these are the most powerful fruits/berries. You should always have a banana in your purse/backpack 😉 But for the main reason for adding a banana to my happy smoothie, is that bananas help overcome depression due to high levels of tryptophan, which is converted into serotonin which is the happy-mood brain neurotransmitter. It´s all about adding happy ingredients!
Cherries are very high in potassium, just like bananas, which helps regulate heart rate and blood pressure. Cherries are also rich in two important flavonoids, isoqueritrin and queritrin, which act as antioxidants and work to eliminate byproducts of oxidative stress, therefore slowing down the aging process. And looking and staying young makes me happy 😉
Wow! That sounds like a powerhouse smoothie…
