That’s right! Guilty! Every year, around this time I have this smoothie (read:healthy everything) obsession. Also I have the need to eat all sorts of greens, fruits and vegetables. SPRING is coming, my body screams and wants to lose all that extra weight that I was collecting over the winter 🙂 Of course all the meals are smaller and healthier.
And I know I’m not alone in this, it’s like a smoothie cult, every spring 🙂 All the magazines are filled with smoothie recipes and all the blogs are talking about smoothies 🙂
Anyways yesterday I had a smoothie factory in my kitchen. I was putting together a weekly smoothie supply, packing them into zip lock bags. 1 bag = 1 smoothie. I just have to add liquid, either juice or green tea, flax seeds and vanilla extract, possibly a little bit of cinnamon! Super easy for a lazy person. I prepared 6 bags because Sundays are a guilt free (cheating) days to have bacon and eggs and whatever else I wish 🙂
I put together my favorite smoothie ingredients – 2 cups of kale, 1 cup frozen blueberries or raspberries and half a banana. I also had an avocado to use so one bag got an avocado as well 😉
Kale is just good, no matter how you slice it! For example – one cup of kale has over 1000% more vitamin C than a cup of spinach! Enough said. A lot of people complain about a bitter taste but I don’t think it tastes bitter and even if it did, I would still use it because of it’s health benefits.
Blueberries are among the healthiest foods as well, just like kale! Blueberry antioxidants benefit the nervous system and brain health, and can also improve memory.
Raspberries are not titled one of the healthiest foods but they are full of vitamins as well. And bananas – we all know one banana a day is good for your tummy, just as one apple a day will keep the troubles away 😉I have done a lot of smoothies over the years and this is my absolute favourite, taste wise as health benefit wise.
