This was a very fun experiment, also my first time to do this. Since we are on tight food budget right now (New Year resolution), I have been searching for recipes that are cheap to make but still interesting. Depending where you shop (bargain hunt) it will come up to 6.50 CAD. And it’ s a big loaf, so probably good for 2 dinners for 2 people!Ingredients:
500 g ground beef
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
540 g white kidney beans
75 g of cheese *I just used up the leftovers from my rice balls
salt, pepper, spices
baking sheet
It will not take long to prepare, maybe 20 minutes.
Fry onions and garlic. I always like to fry it before adding to my food, but you can easily skip this step.
Put the ground beef into a stand mixer bowl, add onion, garlic, salt, pepper, spices and mix until it is thoroughly combined.
Pour the water out from the kidney beans can and mash them, I used a hand mixer for it, quick and easy.
Put the ground beef onto the baking sheet and kidney beans and cheese on top of it, and roll. It rolls very nicely, just use the baking sheet to do so.
Mine came a little thick, I rolled it portrait, rather than landscape, so learn from my mistake and do it the right way 😉 Also I think it would be wise to close the ends, so that the filling won’t come out.
Bake 400 F for about an hour. Take it out from the oven and let it set for 10 minutes.
