I can’t say that was my first attempt with Asian food, because I have made sushi and spring rolls. I got the stir fry recipe from “The Ultimate Chinese and Asia cookbook”, it just accidentally fell into my lap, and because I’m unable to follow any recipe (almost) I of course customized it!
Oh and I need to confess – this is the first time that I use bok choy! I only used 2 small baby bok choys for this recipe. Now I have a fridge full of them, the package came with 8 small ones. There are probably going to be more dinners with bok choy this week 😉
If you are a stir fry virgin as well, here is what you need (For 4 servings):
Stir Fry with Bok Choy and chicken
Noodles or rice, I used noodles
1 big piece of chicken fillet
2 tablespoons Garlic
1 Onion
1 Ginger
1 can Mushrooms (I could not find any shiitake mushrooms)
2 mini Bok Choys or one big one
1/3 stir fry sauce
1/4 soy sauce
First I fried onions, garlic and ginger, I like my onions slightly golden brown but it’s up to you how long you fry them. I then added chicken strips, stir fry sauce, soy sauce and a cup of water and fried/simmered in medium heat about 15 minutes till tender. Then the mushrooms. Last but not sliced least – bok choy. Just few minutes is good enough for the green.
While my stir fry ingredients were simmering, I added about half a liter of water to the other pan and added the noodles inside, let it boil for 3 minutes, and it was ready! Very very simple! I did not think it was that easy!
It was absolutely amazing! I will be making that more often, that’s for sure.
Bon appetit!
I love the simplicity of yours. My mom has used a go- to recipe for years that I recently started making. Stir fry is one of my absolute favorites – it’s fast and so good for you, and you can basically use any veg! My simple recipe is here if you want to check it out: http://possibilityforsimplicity.wordpress.com/2013/10/03/simple-stir-fry/
